Privacy
The festival and its app are run by Rangárþing eystra. Nothing requires an account, and nothing is collected unless you switch it on yourself.
Photos you submit
Submitting to the archive asks for a name (required) and an email (optional), plus a caption and a year. Photos appear after review.
Your name is shown only if you tick that box. Your email is used solely to contact you about the submission and is never published.
Anonymous visit statistics (optional, off by default)
When switched on, the app uses your phone's location while the app is open to work out whether you are near an event or a soup stop.
The location itself never leaves your phone. It is computed on the device, and only a place identifier, the date, the hour and a rounded duration (0/5/15/30/60 minutes) are sent.
No identifiers are attached, no device id and no trail of where you went. We cannot tell which phone visited which place — only how many visits there were. An age band is optional and used only for totals.
Notifications (optional)
A reminder 30 minutes before an event on your plan starts. Reminders are created on the phone itself and nothing is transmitted to send them.
Stored on your phone
Your starred events, language and the settings above stay on the device and disappear if you delete the app.
Third parties
A database operated by Emstra tölvuþjónusta, the festival website, Google Maps for the map, and Open-Meteo for the weather.
No advertising, no cross-app tracking and no advertising identifier.
Your choices
Everything can be switched off at any time in the app's settings. To have data removed, email [email protected].
